The Hebrew women were strong and gave birth before they got there.Did the midwives do what the Pharaoh told them to do and why? No.What is a midwife? Someone who helps ladies when they give birth.What did Pharaoh decide to do next? Have the midwives kill the baby boys.What happened the more work they were given to do? The more they multiplied in numbers.What kind of work were they made to do? building cities, making bricks, and working in the fields.What did the Egyptians do to prevent them from becoming larger in numbers? They put the Israelites into forced labor.Why was the new Pharaoh concerned? The Israelites had become very large in number and he thought that they might fight back against the Egyptians.(Read the story to the children because at this age some of the children do not read smoothly, which hinders comprehension for the whole class.) But, their descendants are still in Egypt as the story begins… Many years have passed since then and Jacob, Joseph and his brothers are no longer living. Remind the children that Joseph had invited his father and brothers to Egypt during the great famine. Have the children open their Bibles to Exodus 1. Pray and ask God to teach the children not just head knowledge, but also heart knowledge. Welcome the children to the classroom and chat with them about their week as they gather around the table.
